IHMN Gaming Day
« on: March 15, 2014, 02:45:09 PM »
Given the fairly structured format of IHMN, is there anyone within travelling distance of Heathrow interested in meeting up for an IHMN gaming day ?  ???

I know a venue near Staines with space and lots of tables, and we could plan to run maybe 4 games on a Sunday, (good guys vs bad guys ?). Cost about £8 per player including free Tea and Coffee

Each player brings a 250 pt army and plays 4 different opponants. Maybe bring 2 armies and play 2 games as good guys and 2 as bad guys .....

Just a wild idea ....  ;D

It's too far, unfortunately. Pity because it's a good idea.

It's a great idea, unfortunately I've not managed to get any further than buying/reading the books. Buying model sis on the Salute shopping list, later in the year would probably be doable for me :)

I am trying to host a similar event in Calgary Alberta Canada this Sunday. If you can't find enough for yours perhaps you would like to come to mine. Though I will not be offering free tea or coffee so it might be a touch out of your way since it lacks refreshments.

Cheers,

Daniel

If any of you guys ever manage to find your way past London and up to Nottingham (England!) try out the Sanctuary http://sanctuarygamingcentre.co.uk/  Its a large gaming centre (and shop) built within an old Victorian Church, 47 gaming tables in place of pews and even a modelling/painting area. Many local clubs use the facility and even the London clubs have begun using it on a regular basis, playing IHMN, Bolt Action, Saga et al. Its a favourite haunt of many local notaries from GW, Warlord and Mantic (part the famous leadbelt around Nottingham) and designers and sculptors are often there. If the owner, Richard, knows you are coming he'll even get the message out to the locals and you'll find us waiting!

As befits one of the provinces, the place has a decent size B & B and is surrounded by eateries (including proper fish'n'chips) all of which do deals and in case you are wondering, I don't have shares in it, but I know a good gaming centre and a good host.

We'll even provide the figures! I think we have around 40 factions ready to kick off.

Tehet,

Are you saying if I decide to back pack through the UK this summer you will try to make yourself available for a game? I may have that distinct oder poor teachers get when they are backpacking.

Cheers,

Irish

Sutton isn't exactly Nottingham but pretty close ;)

Is that just a gaming centre or is it a shop? Is there a charge for games or anything etc? The website is seriously lacking in information.
I could be tempted to pop by, potentially with tables.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Its a new venture (within 20 minutes of Nottingham as a Brit drives) that has already attracted Open Days for the GCN and Warlord so website is still pretty basic, but it will be improving.

Imagine gaming in the body of a huge original gothic Church straight out of one of those 40k line drawings, with the atmosphere to match.

It is a Gaming Centre and a Shop, pretty much a One man/family band.
The usual charges are £2 per day and £3 for the weekend, excluding special events.

They'll do you mugs of Tea (or Coffee for our American/Canadian friends) and amongst the snacks do a nice line in Pot Noodles!

And yes Irishrover13, you will have an opponent. Unlike the vast open spaces of America where a game can involve a trek, there are around 20 clubs within an hours drive of the place (7 of them within 30 minutes). If you PM me or contact the Sanctuary direct there will be opponents or games awaiting you. Dewbakuk, I'm surprised you haven't investigated yet!

Honestly had no idea it was there. I have a vague feeling I had been told about it by somebody but it takes a determined effort for me to get out these days with family etc. Plus the custom built games room at the bottom of my garden means I'm not lacking the space for my tables now.

Clearly needs someone to push a link in my face to get my attention properly  ;D

To my surprise, a friend from my other hobby, knows IHMN (and you Craig) very well and is interested in a day of IHMN gaming in the autumn.  :)

More details will follow, but he makes 3 possibly 4 of us, so I think I will start planning for this.

With all of these please put together a short description with contact details and I can put them in the Shows & Events section of the IHMN blog.
