My latest Adobe building- a hacienda.

Foamcore with Polyfilla rendering, Balsa wood doors and windows and plasticard tiled floor.

Dusty, worn, sunbleached(As mentioned before.)...

Polyfilla is a wall filler, usually in powder form which you add water to and can therefore make as thin as you like. I think it's like spackle from what I've heard, but we don't have spackle over here.

Oh, and the Hacienda looks great. Did you make all the edges even and it's the polyfilla which has given them ridges or are they carved on?

The edges are cut even. Its the Polyfilla that gives it the ridged effects.
I mask all the edges first with masking tape before applying the filler.
I do this to protect the exposed foam and to strengthen them from knocks etc.
Then I render the sides and roof areas. I use premixed Polyfilla from a tub, with extra water added to get it quite runny. Its trial and error to get to the right consistency.
For the roof edges I then just add a generous dollop with my palette knife and run it along the roof edge. It naturally dries in a nice uneven way.
Finally the whole thing gets a rub with  medium sandpaper to smooth it off.

I have tried to match them in style to the Snapdargon buildings which form the bulk of my Mexican collection.

I am now halfway through my most ambitious one to date. - A long house with a two storey section with balcony to the front at first floor level and a long arched portico.
I'll post some work in progress pictures later in the week. showing the modle before rendering.

Basecoat of Humbrol desert sand. Its a very old acrylic colour , it comes in a pot, not spray and I don't know if you can still get it. Then a burnt umber wash around the doors, windows and generally around the bottom of the building and onto the base. Then a thick dry/wet brush of GW bleached bone, then a thick dry/wetbrush of white, heavily towards to the top of the building, so the three colours work up from the ground. I.E. darkest nearest the earth.
Then Burnt umber again on all the doors and window frames, then a final drybrush of bleached bone on them.
The ground is drybrushed with Humbrol linen and then static grass etc is added.
