Barbarella: What's that screaming? A good many dramatic situations begin with screaming...

Yea, they do...

But when I think back to the Conan stories the armor of choics for guys seemed to be the loincloth.

That seems to have changed - with women's armor I'm not so sure - though in "serious" Fantasy the chainmail bikini seems to have largely disappeared.

Yeah, but that's more to do with power fantasies. The 'men want to be and (bikini armoured) women want to be with' schtick.

Liked that video? See this. You can take or leave the captions and complaints, but the pics alone show the boggling examples that still get pasted up on people's screens.

Whats scary is that developers seem to think this is a great idea...

(perhaps if the whole market were teenage boys, but God knows theres a lot of us that aren't - both boys or teenagers)

This is one of the reasons I like Red Box Games so much. Most of the women miniatures actually look strong confident fighters not like some adolescent wet dream.

Judging by GW sales, I'm quite sure this is all an adolescent young boy's market... lol  I know some gamers who seem to fancy only scantily clad lady figures.

Well, GW almost makes a point out of selling as few female models as possible, regardless of wether you're in it for gender equity or plain old titillation. :/

But when I think back to the Conan stories the armor of choics for guys seemed to be the loincloth.

I think in the actual REH stories the armor or clothing was mostly sensible or at the very least situational. As King of Aquilonia, Conan rides to battle in full plate.

It's the comics and Frazetta art that brought the loincloth out. And possibly the later non-REH stories, never much bothered with them...
