Does anyone have an interesting red haired recipe?

Preferably both vallejo and GW paints.

Thanks!

Its been a while since I painted a redhead but I remember putting a bronze wash on at the end. It was on a squad of sisters of battle so the metallic red worked with the black and white armour combo I had done.

Well, I mix a lot of my own paints, but I usually go with a darker pumpkin orange, and wash it with a burnt sienna wash, which heavily browns it while leaving the red tones.

Old GW paints:

1. Bestial Brown
2. Vermin Brown
3. Vermin Brown + Vomit Brown
4. Vomit Brown.

Add bone to Vomit Brown if you want lighter/fairer hair.
Start with Dark Flesh for variation,
Add Scorched Brown to base colour for darker versions (highlight with '3.').

Just mix brown and orange paint, you get a nice vibrant 'ginger' colour; you will have to experiment with the ratios a bit. Nice and simple.

This is a great recipe and quite realistic:

all Vallejo model colours:

German Cammo Black Brown
Mahogany Brown.
Mahogany Sand.
Add Orange Brown to Mahogany Sand to taste.

Darrell.

I'm taking a few pics later so I'll pop up a pic of some mini's where I have used this recipe.

Darrell.

Not the best photo but I did this with

1. GW Blazing Orange
2. GW Red Ink (add chesnut ink to vary the red colour)
3. Drybrush With GW Blazing Orange
4. Very light drybush with yellow of choice, I used GW Sunburst Yellow.

It makes for a very bright vibrant red.

On my vikings I've been painting them black, dry brush white, paint the tips red.  Wash with blue ink, then bring up the highlights with vermillion, scarlet and orange red, all VMC.
Second from the left, pretty red :D

Reaper miniatures has a paint triad specifically for red hair.

I bought the carrot top bottle and love the color, a little highlight and good to go.,

I picked up Color Mixing Recipes for Portraits nearly four years ago (where does the time go :()

It's got "proper" paint colours in it, but does cover a lot of hair colours

I think it's from Hasslefree? Sci-Fi Humans, Mystic Warrior Jen (one of a handful of 'jedi kids')

Argonor is right, she is from Hasslefree and is sold as a "Mystic Warrior Child" (a NOT Jedi...). Great mini, but she is tiny! Perfect casting and sculpting though as you would expect from Hasslefree.
