They look like the Tanatus miniatures from North Star figures.

They're what used to be R J Eastland figures. Think they might have changed the name of the range now. North Star used to carry them. Possibly they still do. I've always thought they were interesting and different figures, and that's a very nice, subtle paintjob on them.

I am not very keen on bowstrings on 28mm minis. They tend to come out out of scale, to taunt or too floppy. They do not detract any from these minis, though. They are lovely.

The archers lack any scenic component but the painting is stunning, very cloth-like in appearance. Muted colors with excellent shading. While the bow stings may be a bit out of scale, they do add a nice touch, especially with the variety -- some stretched, some in act of propulsion and some just at rest. Should the stretched bows be a little more bent? A wonderful group.

A scenic grouping should tell a story, I do not understand what the Uncle Sam group represents.

but some strings have no sense... for the red dressed guy, for example, it has no arrow so why the string is streched?

Maybe he's testing his bow arm.

Arrows are beyond me at the moment, if I can work out how to do it I might add some, but these are gaming pieces, not display figures, you do have to draw the line somewhere. The strings incidentally are human hair twisted into a double strength, superglued on. Bit fiddly but doable if you have a modicum of patience.

The figures are indeed Tanatus Miniatures, available at North Star Miniatures.

Actually they are my wife's hair, so it's more like witchcraft, but don't tell her I said that.

I think I am going to use my shavings next time I have a wolf pelt - The grey should go down perfect.

Lovely Saxons though - nice touches such as the triangles at the bottom of some of the smocks.
