Froud style miniatures -suggestions please
« on: 30 March 2014, 08:41:35 AM »
Having seen the splendid Nightfolk Miniatures on this page yesterday I really fancy doing a Froud inspired game or two. I have really liked his illustration style (especially the goblins) for years and years. Can anyone suggest figures with a "Froudian" vibe to them?
Cheers
Alan

These TrollForged Goblins seem to have that look about them:

The old Rackham Goblins (especially the Strohm and Klune figures rather than the Pirates and Samurai ones) are perfect.

They match well with the TrollForged ones. (of which AndyM really needs to sculpt more!)

Mike Owens 'Borderlands' figures for his Midnight Workshop range, particularly the goblin knights.

Not to be too self-promoting but Froud was an certainly an influence on my new Fantasy Adventurers. Now I just need to sculpt some Froudian beasties for them to fight!  :)

Red Box Games' dwarves and goblins also have a Froudian vibe to them as well and are lovely little figures.

nice miniatures Andrew I especially like the wizard

GW Gnoblers
Reaper has a lot of stuff, gnome riding frog

Baba Yaga

Freebooter has a boy wizard pack with a goblin with spellbook

Discworld has a girl with frying pan, Tiffany Aching, actually a lot of the Disc World stuff, they have a new troll out wearing a crown, DW humans tend to be on the tall side. Also check out Freebooters Fate for humans
Elfball Deadlings, evil tree stumps (I just love these)
Rackham has a lot of odds n ends you can get off ebay
Otherworld had goblins and faeries
Eureka has 2 wild elfs and a gnome gun grew, for conversions, warrior mice, frogs and turtles, if you do want animals Dark Sword Miniatures.

that owl looks evil to me
The Battle Forge makes a line of dwarfs and halflings, I'm not a big fan of them, but they could be used as brownies

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Can I suggest the 'Anyaral: World of Twilight' stuff? There's also a kickstarter running I think?

Yeah, the trolls have a bit of that feel:

The Silurid Slaves for Malifaux feel a bit like a Henson-Froud collaboration:

These Guthrie Grenadier trolls have something of the tradition:

I have these and they are lovely figures.

Mannikin Studios has a line directly based on Arthur Rackham illustrations, Rackham obviously being a major influence on Froud alongside John Bauer.

I also agree with robh some of the Rackham Confrontation goblins look as if they arrived straight from the Labyrinth.

Oh, and there are "official" Froud figures out there in the form of the Grenadier/Pinnacle Dark Crystal figures. I have only one, Ogrha but it's extremely well done.
