Snake Oil/28MM
« on: 31 March 2014, 03:23:14 AM »
I was really taken by this Lemax  snake oil wagon.  It is resin, reasonably priced and despite the large wheels which don’t really bother me, it goes well with 28mm as can be seen by the size of the door.  The only real modification I did to it other than a new paint job was to add a few pieces of plastic to each step to reduce the height of each step level.  I really like the wagon’s sign so I kept it as it came.  The figure is from Horrorclix.  I rebased and repainted him.  The two trees are resin.  I picked them up at the swap meet for $2 each.  I have no idea who manufactured them.  Because the Lemax wagon is rather unique, I thought I’d share it with you.  Hope you like it.  Richard

Another excellent find by you Richard. The Horrorclix figure is the right one for that wagon. I can see a Victorian America West gallery on the horizon.

Fantastic paintjob on the Horrorclix figure,  :)
Wagon is lovely, and the trees are striking.

Thanks to you all for taking the time to write.  I'm glad you enjoyed the wagon and salesman.  I've been lucky to find a number of very nice, very usable pieces by Lemax.  While Lemax does do a lot of seasonable pieces, they also do things that are not holiday related such as the Snake Oil wagon.  The other nice thing about Lemax is that with the exception of their buildings and large boats, the pieces are usually made of resin and thus easy to work with if modification is needed.  An odd characteristic of a lot of this stuff is that they come with oversized figures.  That was the case with the Snake Oil wagon.  The accompanying figure was at least 54mm so I junked him and found this Horrorclix figure that I really like.  I also use a nice medicine show salesman from Foundry's Old West line.  Thanks again for the kind words.  Richard

Thank you for the kind comments.  Much appreciated.  A couple years ago I found a website that was loaded with Horrorclix at very low prices.  I bought a number of them and have painted them up as they fit into a figure collection I was working on.  I included a few of them in my Victorian collection.  Again, thanks for writing.  Richard

That's a great wagon and a great figure too.  Those are weird trees and go perfectly with the wagon.
Take a second wagon, make the front the rear and it would work well for the Wizard of Oz wagon too!
You do good work old man.

You really should do a soda fountain, I think you could do one justice.

Dave and Mike, thank you both for taking the time to write and for the generous comments.  And as for the soda shop, I'll bet I could find the makins at the swap meet.  Richard
