The April issue of WS&S may just have an insightful article involving this!

But tree bark is only textured on one side though, which might be tricky when modelling standing stones. Another non-rock option is to use broken up bits of insulation board.

Using a CD for a base is a good idea. Wonder how well it will take paint?

The five smaller stones in my image are Flint. The larger central stone was a garden find. I should know what it is!

Does it help if you use an old Stones' CD?

Most of the ones I used were flint.

To attach the stones I used a hot glue gun which seemed to give quite a solid attachment then added the polyfiller directly, though I have also done it after a coat of PVA (white glue/Elmers) to give a rougher surface that other things can attach to.

Probably, at least it will gather no moss.
