I would be interested in what poses they will be in

Depends if you like their big head and hand style (even if less extremely so than Artizan and such).  Matter of personal choice.

The WF figures will be anatomically more accurate as all their decent (..post Reidy) figures have been which IMHO is a very good thing. Also these are likely to be poses that are more dynamic and open to conversion.
I am not an AWI gamer currently having sold my 15mm's some years ago, but these are more likely to make me consider doing something in the era than the Perry offerings.

surely you mean Warlord Games? Perry Miniatures anatomy is fine

If it's six boxes I'd be tempted to assume Infantry/Artillery/cavalry for each side, though I'd like to be wrong and see Hessians etc. included.

2025 Painted Miniatures: 348
('24: 502, '23: 159, '22: 214, '21: 148, '20: 207, '19: 123, '18: 98, '17: 226, '16: 233, '15: 32, '14: 116)

Surely you jest or have you mistaken the Perry's with another manufacturer?

I've yet to really like a WGF product, but I do concede they are much better then before and the survivor figures and Dreamforge are actually pretty good. While I'm a big AWI Perry fan I'm not a snob and will happily buy something from WGF if I like it so if their AWI is really good I'll pick up a box.

While it doesn't hurt to add more to the AWI I am still puzzled about WGF'S move into the period and not going into the SYW where there is an obvious hole. SYW has many nationalities requiring lots of figures substantially more then the AWI.

From a business and not a hobbyist viewpoint - will they sell as well as AWI?  I truly doubt it.

Add perhaps an ethnocentric bias (American) and I can see why.

Since these are not in a scale I buy anymore or a period I have any interest in hope my attempt to view it as a business decision is valid.  I think that is a big factor personally.

Glenn

Hard to say as nobody has made any plastics for it yet and most good metal for it is expensive.

Perhaps, but Ancient and Medieval do not have Americans and they are very popular. ;)

If this makes any difference I am American and I do like the American periods for sure, but I also like non American ones as well and I doubt I'm alone in this.

I was referring to the Company being an American company so perhaps leaning to the AWI over SYW minor powers for that reason - I was not clear obviously.   :)

Also, while I am American too  ;)  and I find the AWI (at best) mildly attractive, most of my interests are focused on Spain and eras/areas where Spanish influence was strong (1680s -1700s - 1810s Nueva España for historical, 1861-1863 ACW in Missouri for more historicaland the territories, Zorro for "history based," "Spain on Venus" and Mexican Rebels for IHMN games for VSF, and Spain in Space for Science Fiction for example; leaving my fascination on Dwarf armies for Fantasy to  o_o  lol  ;)  speculation.)

Besides the figures are way too large for most of my future armies (at 3/6/ maybe 15 mm.)  So I have no horse in this race.

Gracias,

Glenn

Edit: Just to go OT, line them up and shoot them up, (how most 7YW games play out locally -  thank God for Cavalry to change the pace of the games,)  is just slower than GW's line up then charge type gaming.

I, for once, would like to see pictures of the sprues, not just box cover's artwork...
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

I suppose if how a game or period plays is of vital importance to you then I can understand your perspective, but if looks is more important as it is with me then the SYW has a lot to offer as the armies can really look quite impressive and dare I say majestic. Say, I recommend trying Maurice as it does give a different game then line them up and shoot them down and gives a real flair to the period. :)

Alas, Koenig Krieg (Battle of Minden??)  is my best opponent's go to rules/scenario (after the love/hate thing he has/I have for TSATF for colonials.)   That and we are working on convincing him that a single town/linear feature in the middle of the board does not constitute "lots of terrain."

Yes, I see we are coming from completely different schools of thought on what attracts us to war games.  Horses for courses, I like unexpected friction (not so much that that dominates [Piquet, IMO,]  but enough that requires flexible planning, ability to change actions in response to 'surprises,' and knowing when to take a minor loss to avoid a Pyrrhic victory.  THW games provide a lot of that for me.

Never played Maurice, might have to run it past the locals here...  The "rules collectors" will have a set I am sure.

Gracias,

Glenn

Don't fret, WGF is pretty good about putting up proper sprue pics for their catalogue (when released, at least).  I'm hitting up a convention next weekend where I frequently run into Jim Goss, so I'll see if he has any info or even prototype sprues or sets there.  I don't know how far out this is.  I'll post back (and take pics if they have stuff).
