They were/are fascinating. I have quite a few pictures of the Lun from my last trip over there. Must say it was quite depressing to see such an amazing ship, yes they are classed as ships, is such a poor state of repair and with very little chance of ever regaining its former glory. Also as a pilot I would have LOVED to crank her up and go for a glide!!!

What's craziest is that those thing might yet live again. There's a definite space for them in between air freight and sea freight.

Excellent choice!
It's like a rocket seaplane!

We expect a full WIP post with lots of quality pics mind you.  ;)

Yes they were an interesting attempt at solving a particular problem, (counteracting US carrier power during the cold war) but their inability to cope with even moderately choppy water pretty much ruled them out as an effective weapon. Civil use however still has some promise, as they could make for good rapid river transport.
Of course they'd make for an excellent Pulp objective/getaway vehicle, though I don't know of any 28mm friendly models.

The idea is to make a wooden blank of the outer hull as well as a medium detail internal and as I have a vac chamber in the shed knock up a mould. Then I can make some resin casts and if you ask me nicely and promise to hand over your first born I will send you one..... >:D ;D lol

Pete,
Not sure if you'd want my first born!  lol However, pencil me in for a resin cast. Happy to pay, no idea what shipping would be?

I remember my father considering bidding on a surplus one of these with a strange plan to try to use it as a transoceanic freight service.
