28 mm-ish Retro Sci-Fi Rockets/Spaceships?
« on: 11 April 2014, 08:27:28 AM »
I just re-discovered the nice little ship made by Bombshell Miniiatures, but are their other models (any materials) suitable for use with, for instance, Hydra Miniatures' Retro Raygun minis? Toys that can be easily converted/repainted are also an option, though I prefer to paint 'out of the box' (assembly not counted).

This week I ordered War Rocket and some small spaceships that I intend to use for linked adventure scenarios with Fantastic Worlds in a Flash Gordon/Buck Rodgers flavoured way (Rescue Mission, or Disable the Giant Planetkiller Gun, deep into enemy space), so I also need at least a smaller ship suitable for the Galacteers  :)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

For the Galacteers, get a toy airline plane and add some more boosters - that'll keep the Hydra RR look at least.
You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

Yeah, I was beginning to think along those lines - for the class I ships, even a small 'sports' airplane might be useable.

I don't think they're available at all from them - just as with the Blue Moon Manufacturing 15mm Sci-Fi it would seem that OldGlory.uk has an aversion for all things science-fiction, sadly enough :?

I always thought a B-29 would be perfect, whether a plastic model or a metal miniature for the smaller scales. It is a pretty big plane so even a 1\72nd scale one might be fine with 28mm miniatures or there is a 1\48th scale one for megalomaniacs. swap the wings for something smaller, a 1\72nd Victor might be perfect doner for a 1\48th job, and chop the tail off and fit a rocket, atomic of course, maybe even a bit from an Airfix Saturn V as using it seems to be traditional for a lot of model work.

The Victor is a great looking plane in it's own right, a documentary described it as the most evil looking plane ever built. I wonder if my local model shop still has the Revell reissue of the Matchbox tanker version?
