Swedish house with traditional picket fence
« on: 15 April 2014, 07:35:24 AM »
I have got me a Prepainted Pegasus Russian Timber house from my friend Jonas that I now have Swedenised a bit, as well as I painted me some Perry Picket fence in the traditional "Falu Röd".

They will all be used for our "A Very Moderate Swedish Conflict" project. You find more pictures at my blog

Best regards Michael

Pretty cool.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Very pretty. Any idea as to why the fences are painted in that style or is that lost in the mists of time?

I think I'm beginning to understand one of Skander's remarks about parts of Sweden being almost Soviet.

Nice one Michael.

Now you need to make a Midsommarstång and plan a true Midsummer's Night Magic -scenario around it :)

Thank you very much !

@Antti,

Midsommarstång on its way but I have at least 2 month until it have to be ready;)

@carlos marighela,

So our red houses would be a symbol for communism...  lol

The Swedish red houses are much older than the communism, the oldest red painted hous in Sweden are from the 16-th centery, the red paint was quite expensive untill the 19-th century then the prize droped very much so it become the cheapest paint in the contry, and sins all the rich people had used it before everybody wanted to paint their house red...  but  then the Rich people started to paint their houses Yellow or White...

I have been told that the White colour on the corners and around the windows was to show that you could affort the white paint as well as it should resemble the white marble that was used on the very rich peoples stone houses in Swedish towns like Stockholm.

I reccon that the white tips of the fences also are a way of showing of for your neibours that you can affort the white paint...

Best regards Michael

Nice looking "des res" Michael. I really like your terrain, practical and aesthetically pleasing at the same time.

Thanks for the explanation.

  Oddly enough red  or rather a reddy pink colour was a popular and cheap colour in mediterranean countries, where ox blood would be mixed with lime wash.

I think Skanders little joke was more to do with attitudes or social development in a partvof Sweden he doesn't reside.  :)

My remarks on soviet is very easy. Everything east from the outer west coast is automatically The East. And we all know that The East is Soviet ;)

You're misunderstanding, Norway is the true Swedish west coast. I live in the midlands ;)
