Jim's generic samurai thread **10.10.16 Post BLAM photos**
« on: 20 April 2014, 01:12:28 PM »
I thought I would keep all my samurai work in one place for a change as I'll be starting to play some games in a week or two  :D

The rules I'll be using are a Sharp Practise mod and I'll post them up when they've been finalised.

First off though I've got two finished seki-bune to show that will appear in a game soon.

The masts are demountable for ease of access (and clumsy fingers).

More to follow soon as I'm nearly finished re-basing a load of Sanada troops  :)

cheers

James

Very nice tubs, mate.
A splendid finish on them.

And who have you roped into for this?
Is this a 'deal' for playing Texas with Mama...?

Based the Sanada teppo (pronounced teh-poh), I've also added a couple to the Murakami clan and have a fair few more to finish off. The bune have the Murakami clan markings.

Lovely, mate.
Just lovely.
 :-* 8) :-*

Like a lot of people, I imagine, Samurai were some of my first figure purchases back in the '80's, Dixons, of course.
I loved them then but was always put off of painting a serious number of them due to the complexity of the paintjob.

You are a brave man, sir.

The ships (er...boats) are fantastic and I love the figures.  The Shogun/Japan/Samurai thing is something that really appeals to me though I doubt I'd find any opponents to play with!  Gorgeous work as usual.

Wonderful work! Your Samurai figures are always great to see!

Also:

The rules I'll be using are a Sharp Practise mod and I'll post them up when they've been finalised.

:D :D Cannot wait! I was thinking of modding Sharp Practice (possibly my favourite rules) for Samurai one day, but as you're definitely an authority on the period I cannot wait to see what you've done.

Lovely work.

The sails look a little too flat - a suggestion of using handmade/textured painting for the next ones you make. I can see some pattern - not sure then if that is already the case or just something extra you printed on them (I understand it may just be the photography).

Thanks chaps  :)

I'm going to have to go to the bank and get a few pounds worth of pennies as I've run out  lol

I wouldn't say authority, but I've got a good idea and hopefully the transition will work well. I'll send you a pm as well  :)

The photos might be slightly over exposed but the sails are made form canvas and the sticking is draw on with a pencil so there is plenty of 'texture' there, just not showing here.
