Armoured samurai and Shinsengumi be useful for the conflict (both on the Shogunate side), but in a limited number, the Shinsengumi mainly because they were a small force.
In the Battle of Toba Fushimi a big number of samurai armed only with spears and swords charged against the Imperial troops of Satsuma.

By the way, I will make Shinsengumi, working on his design. ;)

They look great, especially like the way you paint faces.

Very nice! How many miniatures per unit plan you make?

In the acw supplement for sharp practice its 8 men per group. Which is ideal as you sell them in packs of 4. Im planinng 4 groups a side as starters, and for every 4 groups i will allow myself one group of samurai.  I keep eying up the perry plastic acw artillery to use the guns. I heard they were used in the Boshin war.

Don't make your oders directly from Bac Ninh?
