I think that's a good colour choice, I also just painted an ishida clan figure and i used brown too, I have seen surviving ishida ashigaru armour brown with orange lacing too.

Question, what the historical precedence for the different "uniforms" of the clanes and sides?
I just got some Perry tempo and spear men and was thinking of painting then a dark green, with red or orange facings.
Or can you direct me to an article or book that address's this?

"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

I might give orange lacing a go on the next one to see how it looks.  With my limited knowledge i thought armour was generally black, brown or red. But i am probably wrong

The steel fist figs are pretty neat, I was looking at them just a few hours ago.

You have done a really good job on them, I also like seeing what colour schemes people use on the miniatures.
The armour colours for common troops were black, red, brown shades, and rust protected. Nobles also used the above plus gold, silver, copper, and flesh coloured.
If I paint the ishida I will use mixed colours, just because most clans had no uniform look.

but sometimes one type of armour was specialized in an area just like in medieval Europe, such as the Date clans use of bullet proof armour. So if you kit your troops out in the same breast plates or lacing styles you could have a kind of uniforminity even if the armour and lacing colours were different. Also you could do one or two bases as household troop in a well equipped uniform style.
