I would agree with trying a wash on the cloak. It is a little light.

Are you planning on using Uesugi Kenshin from the Andrea Legends of the Samurai?

If anyone has a side by side comparison between the Legends of the Samurai and other manufacturers that would be immensely helpful.

No it's way to rich for my blood. Plus I have no idea how it will scale with my other miniatures.

I am using the perry one that you can see on the previous page. Its not the clearest picture but it gives an idea of what he looks like.

It was either £25 to for the Andrea minitures version or £9 for the perry with an extra Date masamune and Oda Nobunaga incase I or a friend ever wants to start a force under that general. Could also use them as generic Samurai if I want.

Small Update to show what I am working towards

Wanted to show what I am working on atm. My Archer unit is half finished but after that I have two arquebus units to paint up.

Most of the Archers are Old Glory and all of the Arquebus are Perry.

Group Shot. Archers in the middle

Arquebus Unit One. There are two Samurai in the First row

Arquebus Unit One: Another Angle

Archer Unit: Unit Leader is from Perry

Arquebus Unit Two: The Samurai one from the Right is reciving his Gun from the Ashigaru behind him who was loading.

All looking very nice to me, sir!
 :-*

Only suggestion I can make is to pimp up your movement trays with tufts etc as well.
The bases on the figures look nice but will blend together better with a little pimping.
You may well be surprised at the difference that will make.
(But you probably intended to do that at some point anyway..... ;))

Very Nice!!  :o :o :o

Are all the Infantry figures Old Glory?

What do you think of their quality?

Cheers,

Allan

Yeah the movement trays are not finished yet. Grass will be added. Thanks for the tip none the less mason.

The archers are old glory except the unit leader, most of my other minitures are perry's.

The old glory are decent but not great. Some of them have slightly mutated faces but they are decent miniatures for the most part. They are certainly better than the Wargames factory ones though.

If price isn't a factor then I would say go for perry's instead of old glory but if you want a fair number of models at a decent price they are worth getting. The archers at least, I haven't used any of the others.

This is my archer unit leader. From perry. The sashimono needs a lot more work and obviously the base isn't done but other than that I think he's finished. Will give him a once over tomorrow to make sure there is nothing left to fix . Unless anyone can see any thing that needs improvement. Any tips or criticism is welcome as always.

After way too long I finally managed to finish the Archer Unit.

Finished pictures are below.

Next I am going to try to do something that wont take too long and is a little different so I am going to finish of these Oni.

where did you get the movement trays from? and do they sell bases as opposed to using coins? I'd like to get some that I can put a small bit of magnetic tape into, then mount the models on washers that fit so they hold better in  storage.

I got them from warbases.co.uk

They will make them to whatever size and layout you like if you ask. Pretty sure they have some on the store for 20mm washers.

They also sell laser cut bases so you could buy wooden bases and movement trays at the same time.

The pennies themselves are magnetic as long as you get newer ones. I superglued a few unpainted too non magnetic pennies that I need to fix but now I check them with a magnet before glueing.

If you could get thin enough magnetic tape let me know.

Looking good, lovely decal too, I think you did a good job on the lacing, my only tip would be a coat of nuln oil wash over the armour, that's what I do then it really gives an impression of weight, and highlights the lacing, allow it to go in the gap between the armour and clothing too. Then if you like finally highlight the formost bits of the armour again too make it zing.
But a very good job
