Traveller S Scout
« on: 23 April 2014, 09:35:27 PM »
Unpacked this project which I had shelved and started fiddling on again. Partially remotivated by this thread: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=33153.0  Thanks Faust23!

28mm scale made from 3mm (1/8inch) hardboard, posterboard, dowelling, styrene, etc.

No landing gear yet. You can see lowered stairs that accesses the main airlock with my ubiquitous 28mm Copplestone figure for scale. With damage to the nose that will be repaired when hull plating added.

View of the air raft/vehicle bay that opens both from the top and bottom with two access hatches from inside.

Before I get jumped on by purists the internal layout is different than most S Scout layouts. Mainly as the original layout is kind of boring for gameplay; one corridor with rooms on the sides. With this layout there are several ways to get in and  around the ship despite it's small size: cargo hatch, main air lock, emergency airlock, air raft bay, roof hatch, lowerdeck corridor, air shaft, cargo bay stairs.

The bridge area needs to be rebuilt due to a measurement error. You can see the secret compartment next to the air raft bay.

Lots of the internal detailing is done already and ready to be glued in place once painting is done. From left to right the avionics bay which can be converted to a lowberth bay or regular berth with drop-in modules and the emergency airlock (cutout circle); the main airlock; lavatory in blue; two berths in cream colour; across from that the secret cargo bay.

Enough room for 3 cargo containers. Eventually a drop in on one side will allow a cargo pod to be replaced with two passenger berths. Medical bay in bottom left corner beside the air raft bay.

Marvellous! This WIP has probably doubled my interest in traveller.  :D Seeing a floor plan worked out like this is just inspiring. And I like the multi path layout you have made.

That's brilliant. I would love to get a skirmish game in on that.

A 15mm starship something like the S Scout has been on my "things I want to build someday" list since the late 90s; it's been six or eight years since I last did any 15mm SF gaming at all but I still find myself turning possible designs over in my head and wondering how buildable they'd be!

Looking forward to seeing this progress; the work so far looks very clean-cut and neatly done.
