Going back to the Aztecs, this time with Gringo40
« on: 28 April 2014, 09:03:05 AM »
Hello,
Since first time I saw Aztecs I have really liked them. I love the concept of helmets with animal heads. So during the last 10 years I have been buying Aztecs from all the different companies I could find, but never been really happy. The problem is the armor. I have never been happy with my painting of feather armour.
When I saw that Northstar realised som Huaxtec I ordered them immiadetly. A few days later I saw Gringos40s new Aztec so I also ordered them. Gringo's arrived first.
The first figure is a captain wearing a Tzitzimitl suit ("Demon of the air/dark). I painted it as if the suit is made of Jaguar skin, he was not born a noble. After looking at pictures of jaguars I wanted the spots to be big, but I think that next time I will paint them smaller.

If I ever made a fantasy range it would most likely be inspired by Aztecs, 3rd cent Romans and something Hellenistic.

Here is another with a Tzitzimitl helmet. I liked him too. Nuff said! Today I got the Huextecs from Northstar, so hopefully I will paint one of them tomorrow.

Most of my Aztecs are from TAG or Foundry. But they were destroyed in a varnishing accident. All turned grey. Just a handful survived.
