Hospitallers
« on: 14 May 2014, 02:59:31 PM »
These are my first two of the Perry's 1st Crusade Hospitaller knights, for a pie-in-the-sky army based around the De Hauteville boys in the 1st Crusade and their fun running the Kingdom of Antioch in the following years.

I hope you enjoy them!
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

Amazing stuff, Cubs, very well done. I like your colour choice. What colours did you use for the skin of the horses? Works great and looks fine.

The most beautiful hospitallers I´ve seen - top paintjobs! Although 1st crusade? At the time of the first crusade the hospitallers were running the hospital in Jerusalem as a caritative order, adopting the Temlars rule by de Clairvaux as a military order after their founding in 1107...

Arghh, urm ... I'm trying to remember. I think it was one I labelled 'Chocolate', but I took it into the lighter shades as well. The horses are both (kind of) the same colour because I want to paint them two-by-two and thus the next two Hospitallers will be variations or another single shade and so on.

Halfway through them I was desperate for a bit of colour!

Not these ones, they're different.

Vallejo Chocolate Brown?

It probably has plenty of that in it. I mix my own colours in 4 stages, so I'm afraid it's all a bit iffy.

Wow! You are getting good at this painting thing aren't you!

Is it possible that you can put up slightly bigger images? I like to see the details of such great painting.

Thanks guys, you make me blush ... but I like it.

Hmmm, tricksy. I already resized the pics down and deleted the bigger ones. I'll see if I can zoom in without getting too grainy.

Here we go, it's a little grainy, but not too bad. Is this okay?

That sounds suspiciously like the behaviour of an artist, rather than a mere craftsperson...  ;)
