hi all
I have fond memories of playing this old computer game and would still play it if i had a machine that ran win95. as the next best thing i have an idea to create a game of it using my zombie modern town setting and some 2hour wargames rules/variant. what i need is a source of figures for the aliens and humans. anyone have any ideas?
for humans,
start up troopers - any modern combat troops as long as they are not too armoured
personal armour - maybe foundry swat team figures with a blue paint job
power suit and flying suit troopers - not sure but would like to try and stay away from GW space marines if at all possible
weapons platforms I saw some nice possibilities from bombshell miniatures - counterblast range
the aliens
Celatid small, strange blob like creatures with no discernible limbs or appendages
chryssalid large bipedal crabs - did i see these from otherworld miniatures recently?
cyberdisc I was thinking GW tau drones
etherealfigures in big cloaks. a bit like space ringwraiths
floater think frankenstein....in a cape....with an spherical antigrav unit rather than legs.
muton large heay humanoids - might be able to find something from herocliks for these if push comes to shove
reaper these are furry, bipedal creatures that tower about other beings. big teeth but no guns
sectoid these are just greys so reaper do some but anyone else?
sectopod large bipedal alien constructs with big guns - maybe some smaller scale mech model?
silacoid some form of ooze would do ok for these I think
snakeman i could convert reaper bones or dungeons and dragons miniatures to have guns but are there any space snakemen out there?
zombie easiest to do- i already have plenty of these
for the sky ranger I was thinking a large scale version of the space shuttle modified with a tail ramp. alien ships are still at the thinking stage but some sort of modular floor/wall sections may be the way to go.
if anyone has any suggestions for what figures I could use I would be grateful and I will post pictures as and when this project evolves.
