Does anyone make 28mm police officers for the 1920s.  I've seen Victorian, but not a PC in a tunic?

there were some in the CoC range from Citadel. Foundry do some WWII ones I think and the folks who do the Geezers Shut It stuff have some 60's??? ones which you could use at a pinch. Lovely motorbike cop in old fashioned leather helmet in that range.

Wessex used to have some but I think theirs were Victorian too.

Surely the only difference between a Victorian copper and one from the 1920s is to trim off the luxurious sideburns? A moment with an Xacto!

Eureka do some Victorian policemen. Not all are bewhiskered. I even used some for the RIC for Ireland.

The problem is the uniform, Victorians had frock coats, modern police have collar and tie.  I need a helmet and a stand collar.  Foundry have 1 policeman, but he carries a gas mask.  That Geezers stuff, though..............I see a new period coming on.

British police, senior officers aside did not wear collar and tie in the 1920s. The traditional bobby's uniform stayed remarkably constant up until after the Second World War, ie high collared closed neck tunic.

I'll back Carlos's remarks here....

The open neck tunic, collar and tie wasn't largely adopted until the 50's (The Met was first in 1948).

The greatcoat and/or cape were used concurrently too.

Those figures would be good for Constables and Sergeants from the 1880's until that point for most forces, in England at least. The greatcoat and/or cape were used concurrently too. Inspectors and above wore a peaked cap that followed the standard military officers cap of the appropriate time.

Buttons and badges etc, were pewter, except on 'night helmets' where the helmet badge was blackened. All leather and the boots were black.

That's pretty much what I thought and thanks.   I have seen some decent bobbies in the West Wind Gothic collection, I'll just file off their whiskers and they should do.

That might not even be necessary... coppers are a conservative bunch. Older coppers of the 20's may very well have retained the whiskers and handlebar moustaches of their youth. Younger ones are obviously a different story.

Yes, I wanted to use them with Agatha Marbles and Hercule Toucan from the Artizan range, so they may just work, as they are.  But many young men were killed in WWII so they may largely have been older policemen, as you see in Foyle's War.

Check the pulp & Gangster ranges set in the 20s & 30s i have seen quite a number of police figures there. A freind of mine & I are planning a Blooby Thursday scenario with lots of coppers & longshoremen. 1934 precurser to the national strike in the US.
