Building Scale
« on: 02 June 2014, 05:10:50 PM »
What scale of buildings do you use for IHMN ?

28mm is correct, but choices seem limited.

0 Railway scale are probably too big (and expensive) while 00 Railway scale are more available, but are they too small ?

Thoughts appreciated

Pete

There are dozens of companies that make fantastic buildings in 28mm...4Ground being a favorite, there is Miniature Building Authority, Game Craft, Anisty, and even, dare I say? GamesWorkshop. Also look towards you local pet store for fish tank scenery...

Gamecraft - OK, but US based so postage +30% taxes takes it out of my pocket

4Ground - are you kidding ? £40 GBP for a single terraced house ?

MBA - OK for building a village but again US based so postage +30% taxes takes it out of my pocket

Ainsty - better, but no period stuff and I really wanted to create a street environment without a lot of messing about with foamboard

Any more ?

Pete

I saw a lot of different buildings available at Salute but most were unrealistically priced.
I did however pick up a bunch of buildings from Warbases - 28mm scale, main buildings in the teen £s but lots of modular add-ons for under a fiver too. Based in Scotland so no extra tax (unless they secede).
Here's some - http://war-bases.co.uk/BUILDINGS/MULTI-28MM

Hope that helps.

I spotted the Gaslamp Alley stuff earlier this evening.

The Oshiro is also interesting but it needs photos to entice me more  ;)

The only one from a quick search is this pub frontage with unfinished brickwork above. I'll dig some more out tomorrow  :)

Some of those are 1/48th, are they too big ?  ???

I confess I'm at a loss as to why no-one makes a block of terraced houses.

The single most common building in a town or city, and yet everyone makes single dwellings ?

Dust Tactics Operation Cerebus.

I bought a couple but so far have only been collecting bits to convert them.

Sarrisa does.  It's in the WW2 section!

I've seen the Oshiro ones first hand in a Victorian set up and they are very nice indeed. The can easily be based as a terrace. The ground floor option with the archway isn't available anywhere else to my knowledge either. They're certainly not too big.

I've been looking into terrace houses for a 7TV board.
