ACU and Desert Marpat.
« on: June 05, 2014, 02:08:33 PM »
Aside from those on the forum, has anyone got any guides for these schemes?
I am trying to gather a few to try them out before I make a couple of big Empress orders.
I think I have nailed MTP but now I need to try out a few American ones. I am aware that ACU is on its way out but I intend to set my unit firmly in the ACU era.

Marpat is a fave. Just cannot seem to get a good result. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

(I will post my MTP for C&C when I get home)

I know this is fairly 'off topic' but there's a good thread about painting the new British MTP uniform on the sci-fi threads!

ACU: Just paint them bright pink.  The camouflage effectiveness will be about the same.  lol

Thank you Nimrod! @Elbows  :D, true but I must attempt to replicate our American cousins for Skirmish Sangin. I actually have some ACU trousers from the states and they are nice. Seem quite urban to me.
I now need to find a similar guide to desert marpat, I shall be painting a lot for others and for that reason mixing is a pain. Great guide as I mainly use vallejo.

This is how I painted my Marines many years ago, I think I took the colors from some kind of TMP thread or similar.

Desert MARPAT:

Webbing       Iraqi Sand #819
Boots         Desert Yellow #977
Goggles         Desert Yellow #977
Vest (Coyote Brown)   Desert Yellow #977 (Sand Brown #876)

Base         Dark Sand #847
Color 1      Khaki #988
Color 2      German Camo Pale Brown #825
Color 3      German Camo Medium Brown #826
Drybrush      Iraqi Sand #819

ACU:

Base          Light Khaki
Pixels          Light Grey Green
Pixels          Dark Drab Green
