Savage Worlds: Showdown with supers!
« on: June 19, 2014, 07:15:24 PM »
I did a little browsing of the 'net and found a couple of nifty little rules someone had made somewhere else which I swiftly "borrowed". They are by no means complete but a very good start. I am in the process of looking through the Super Powers Companion and comparing the notes to upgrade it to 2nd edition.

Obviously, some Powers/ Edges will have very little to no bearing on a skirmish game so I will edit them out and some others might have to work differently (Super Strength might have to be a separate Power in its own right as it costs A LOT for someone to be able to lift a car...).

I think, after looking at other ideas that I will do some restructuring in the rules in regards to Superheroes. Mostly because I've seen examples, which might be to that players taste, doesn't appeal to me, where EVERYONE has a Fighting/ Shooting at D12+2, Parry 13+ and Toughness 15+...

In my view, even supers come in degrees of training and abilities, even in a skirmish game, not every super is a master fighter and super tough.

I think I'll go with basing Parry straight off of Agility instead of Fighting, even an untrained but quick superhero fighting for their life will do it's utmost in not being hit.

D4 Novice fighter, been in a scrap or two.
D6 Trained fighter, taken some lessons in the art of violence.
D8 Professional fighter, could be a combat instructor.
D10 Expert fighter, this character is a really dangerous adversary.
D12 Master fighter, this character is amongst the best in the world.

Unless they have bought the powers Armour or Toughness they will have a costume, good enough to add 4 points of Armour and negate up to 4AP from Ranged Attacks, but not from Melee.

So the "average" superhero, although imbued with fantastic powers but still basically human will have Parry 5 and Toughness 5 (9).

I also think I shall incorporate most skills in some ways in the game, Stealth, Persuasion and Knowledge will definitely see uses.
