More colonial New Zealand Wars Māori and militia
«

I've been making some slow but steady progress on my colonial New Zealand Wars project, having painted eight more Māori warriors and eight militia over the last couple of weeks.
These are all from the wonderful Empress Miniatures range of 28mm figures for the New Zealand Wars (or the Māori Wars, as some call them) of the 1840s.

Hi Marine0846
I've now got 48 Maori, plus a carronade. And I've got around 60 British and colonials, including regulars, militia, sailors, and the massive 32-pounder gun.

Thanks for the comments, guys.
I've been busy today working out how to set up the tackle on the huge 32-pounder and the Maori carronade. I plan to have these on circular bases, and will have the breeching and tackle ropes attached to a couple of tree trunks. That's the plan, anyway ...
There's a nice little video about the forward gun battery at Ruapekapeka here, with some great reconstruction images:

Of course, we still need Empress to produce a little Coehorn mortar and its crew (hint, hint!). These would be the most usable artillery pieces in NZ Wars games.

I went to the site and watched the video.
Very cool.
The whole Ruapekapeka site looks very interesting.
I think I will be spending some time there.
Thanks for posting it.
