Blandings Castle
« on: 29 June 2014, 01:30:58 PM »
I have been collecting castle/fortress parts and whole sets for some time now (and looking at the following photos it's time I stopped!). These are for a project far in the future (one of those "I'll have time for this when I've retired" ideas). I needed to remove them from the various boxes they arrived in and tidy them away in storage bins and thought I'll just set them up on the table to see how they go together before storing them away for some time. I'm sharing these photos with you just for fun. The plan is that the inner wall will be raised much higher and the centre buildings will be higher still with a large square stone keep in the centre towering (pun intended) over everything else! There will be small buildings inside such as stables, tavern etc. I intend it to be used for several different periods but it is going to be mainly for Pulp, hence posting it here. Feel free to suggest Pulp scenarios for it but don't expect a game report for four or five years yet!  :'(

We are currently eating lots of Pringles as these will be turned into round towers!  ;D

Nice job Snappy....can see lots of games in that.  You must ofcourse do a Last Crusade style rescue the inept genius.  Or perhaps Professor Calculas has made a new invention and the Morovian spy is trying to steal the plans and Tintin must stop him.

Ah yes, Tintin would be ideal! Tintin and Snowy are already painted and I've got plenty of time.

A 'Where Eagles Dare' style rescue (even if it's not on a mountain top).
Or go for a more complex Bedknobs and Broomsticks (oh dear, that sounds a bit racy!) type scenario with suits of armour animated by magic resisting the invading German troops.
Hellboy would fit in there; or Lobster Johnson, perhaps, to stick closer to the pulp theme.

It's brilliant, have to make sure to keep a watch on this project.

Joroas, that is absolutely superb! Is the Emsworth Arms here or is that village portraying Blandings Parva rather than Market Blandings?

Is that a Brown Bess that Chekov's left over your mantel there, Snappy? Hard to see.

"Ah, Beach, a glass of port with you in the Butler's Pantry, if I may?"

Thanks for drawing that link to my attention, a wonderful game, superb scenery and beautifully painted miniatures. A real treat! Of course, one is always concerned with the welfare of the Empress! Nice to see the Carry On crew supporting Lord Emsworth as well.

Glad you like it. There are several Blandings set games on the Blog, either under the WWII label (1940) or the VBCW.
