Wild West themed playing cards...
« on: 30 June 2014, 07:37:41 PM »
Anywhere in Blighty I might glean a novelty Wild West card deck, thought it might add a bit to our 'Fistful of Lead' games.

There used to be a shop in York, near Merchant Adventurers (Fossgate?).

Caliver sometimes stock period playing cards for reenactors.

This ebay seller stocks 18th century ones:

This company used to stock cards, but don't appear to now, but they might know where to find some (or might have old stock):

These are the ones you want:

Highlander 1864 replica poker cards. Excellent reproduction of the sort of cards used in the Old West. ;D

I got mine off Amazon UK. There are still some available:

Alternatively if you want real novelty cards with sheriffs badges on or pics of the old west just search EBay or Amazon for Wild West themed playing cards. There's quite a choice. :)

They are. I can heartily recommend them and they are very reasonably priced on Amazon. They have the original style square edge and have an antique finish.  :)

Yep, the 1864 Highlanders are nothing short of brilliant.  I use them exclusively.  Square cut corners and no numerals so you have to do a little math.  They're a slightly cream coloured base, and have a patina on the back.  Really lovely card.  Heavy quality stock and beautifully finished.  I can't recommend them enough!

If you're interested in ones for Fistful of Lead, they're on the way, brother. Each Special Card comes with it's ability printed right on it. First pic is what they'll look like. Second is work in progress (no color yet) but shows style.

Any chance of a European seller too? The rendered cards do look good.

Got these from Firebox, expensive but worth it I think.

I'd add another vote for the Highlander cards. Out of all the fancy decks I own, these are probably my favourite.

I need these cards.
