Projects are never finished, just temporarily released to oblivion ;)

Once I had all my core game ended, it was time to get on the next stage of the project, the expansions! I have gathered the Ogres first. These models are a slight challenge for me, don't find them particularly easy, not having precisely a wide variety of poses or pieces. I was trying a different approach than the usual, the ugly-poor-bastard-giant-guys, using just a couple of brownish colours and nothing else. I had already gone through that way in the past, but I didn't want that this time. What if I tried a more civilized, distinguished style, just as the very box illustration suggests?

This is what I got with this new approach:

The use of arabesques and trimmings resulted in an interesting option. Suddenly it made the clothes look much more opulent and stylish, almost silky :P

Not really sure if the inspiration is just medieval European, Byzantine, Arabic or what, but it seemed to work...

So I guess It's a deal!

My next step should be the Wizards (if I ever get to find all of them, I'll have to delve deep in my boxes...)

Brilliant. I always enjoyed the idea of Ogres sometimes being wealthy mercenaries of human (or slightly under) intelligence, instead of just small smelly giants. The fancy clothes make them look like professional footballers (okay, perhaps more than slightly under human intelligence) splashing their cash on fancy clothes and bling.

Those waistcoats! Holy moly!

@ Cubs: Agree. Ogres are much more fun as chavs than as pure dumb animals.

VERY IMAGINATIVE! Your INSPIRED brushwork has definitely transformed the Big Guys. Brutish appearance should not preclude the possibility of being a snappy dresser. VERY WELL DONE!

Thank you all! The problem is that now I'm visualizing a full Ogre army in some kind of One Thousand and One Nights style. Or something. I'm gonna lay down the brushes now before it's too late... :D

Totally love all of this. Excellent paintjobs on some ultimate nostalgia. I'm also planning doing something similar with my collection so I can game with my son (and maybe with my daughter too!). So several years left to finish it....EEP!
