28mm Imperial Russians
« on: 05 July 2014, 03:47:34 AM »
I'm looking for some Imperial Russians to mix in with copplestone castings range from some Great War/RCW high-jinks, any idea for good place to look from them?

They do not look out of place with Copplestone but they are wearing the peakless cap (which name I can't remember).

Musketeer miniatures
http://www.musketeer-miniatures.com/store.php?r=17&rule=Historical&id=47
THANK YOU TRAVELLER!!!!!!!  :D I had been there before and I was going crazy yesterday trying to remember the website where I had seen these Russians. I knew it was on a site that had VBCW miniatures but couldn't find it, so thank you thank you!

jimbibbly and smirnoff, I was looking at the Tsuba ones and I like them but I was worried that they weren't the same size as Copplestone, I may end up adding a few of them just for flavors sake, but Thanks for the info  :)

I would not be so concerned with the sizes of the different ranges. I mix copplestone, Musketeer, Old Glory, Tsuba and Brigade without hesitation.

Hi there,

I'm a little bit late to the party, but here's a comparison photos

Not a bad fit, I'd say. The only one, that's a bit off is the kneeling Copplestone figure but he is a rather big guy in his own right.

Not a bad fit size wise, but the Tsuba have the peakless cap (bezkozirka) and entrenching tools. That makes them wrong for the Great War (because of the cap) and for BoB (because of the kit). They also have baggy trousers, cockades in the wrong place for Great War etc. And are those gaiters? Some seem to be militia (Opolchenie), judging by their cockades.

Mixing figures in full kit, like the Tsuba, and no kit, like the Copplestone, would be far more a concern to me than the trivial differences in size. (I carved off entrenching tools and gas masks for my RCW guys, but that was 15mm, and rather easier.)

I was thinking of adding in the Officers and NCO's pack, and possibly standard barer and musicians packs as well for some flavor, would that be completely off?

When not representing Southern RCW Whites I personally would find the lack of peak on the cap to be an issue that needed fixing. Others would not even notice, let along care, I would guess.

I'm not sure that many musicians saw combat in WWI or the RCW, apart from buglers. (Sadly Peter Pig only make them for cavalry, which is a shame.)

Battalion and company flags were often carried on bayonets in the infantry. That gives you a nice flag without having your troops wave around a parade ground monster.
