Gorgon Miniatures - 2nd Class Etruscans - which shields?
« on: 08 July 2014, 03:25:08 PM »
The text accompanying the catalogue listing says "appropriate" shields will be included. Are these the "early scutum" that are shown elsewhere in the store? I've tried asking via their contact form but so far no response.

Anyone have any experience with this range?

I thought this company got dissolved? Warlord has a few of the Celts in their line now? Maybe I'm thinking of something else...

I think you are confusing some other story. Renegade has shut shop. They had Celts. There is that small line - Taban or similar but I think North Star carries them. Anyway, the website is still live, or seems to be.

I just remembered that they have been releasing ealry WW2 Norway figures, so still active. Gorgon Studios is the correct name, BTW.

Sir Barnaby

Have some of these chaps - ordered some time ago.   They come with the scuta you noted.  These are in two lengths, 1 'stubby' and a longer one.  The 'stubby' one has 2 types of shield boss.  LBMS transfers cater for the stubby version not the longer one, though you can adapt other transfers to fit.   I mixed in some of the 1st class to make up numbers for my Hail Caesar phalanxes.

They paint up well.   I recall Slingshot did a review with painted examples.

Thanks Garry! Still no reply to the email I sent. At least I think it was email...I used the contact form on their site. I assume that generated an email - sent to a mailbox which apparently nobody checks.  :'(

Sir Barnaby, checked my email and my last communication was in March 2013.    If all else fails have you looked at Aventine's range?   They reply to their emails almost as fast as you can send them!

Good luck.
