A quick question or two... What base color do you use as the gold? And do you shade with a basically straight yellow, then white highlights? Or is it the base color cut with white in increasing amounts?
I apologize for the bombardment of questions, but I just tried the same effect on a couple figures and it was more or less a disaster... That may be overstating the case, but it was at the very least visually ineffective and ugly.

No worries - it's Vallejo Game Colour Leather Brown, a wash of GW Sepia (oop now  :() and simply white added and layered up on the MC1 ones. On the Cal Hab I used the Scalecolor Nemener Gold set - absolutely lovely paints and a doddle to use

Thanks for the info. I really like the paint on these guys. It is a great balance. I find that figures that have a lot of the "tricks" all over them increasingly look like dated computer graphics. Every surface a gradient, running from the darkest to lightest. Makes them look almost exactly like sprites from the late 90s/ early 00s. To the point that it tricks my eye into wondering if it is an inept 3d render, or a masterful paint job.

Wonderful. Like the bases on these a lot too - understated (in that they don't take attention from the model itself), but still worth noticing. Great stuff.

There are a few Judge Dredd threads around at the moment, and I'm enjoying all of them!
