British elite company castings
« on: 14 July 2014, 02:25:10 PM »
How many elite company castings do you have in your 28mm British battalions? For my 20 casting battalions I have four castings representing the elite companies, two grenadier and two light infantry. What do folks do for 24 casting and 30 casting battalions? Please note that my intention is to create generic battalions that can be used with most rules with out regard to troop to casting ratios.

Thanks

When I had a French army set up in 6 companies each with 4 figures (24 total) I had 4 Light troops, 4 grenadiers and the remainder line trops.

I then used the front central stand as command, drummer, ensign, sergeant and officer

so 6 figures wide and 4 deep.

Hi mate - I have 24 figure British battalions and normally use 4 elite company figures in a battalion (2 at each end).

As per Brian Smaller (yes indeed a nicely painted battalion) but my battalions can be larger or smaller depending on the order of battle for a particular engagement.

Also, my figures are individually mounted for easy casualty removal and to permit my light company to deploy in a brigade skirmish screen.

I used to do 4 models for Light and 4 models for Grenadier companies in my battalion of 24 models. This allowed me to plop two pairs of Light in front if I wanted them to skirmish.

It's not strictly a correct proportion of Centre to Flank company ratios, but then who cares, it's close enough for government work.
