The Warehouse
« on: July 17, 2014, 01:58:19 AM »
So I got the final art for the heroes and villains cards of Thrilling Adventure came in and I started to think about the first scenario deck that I would put out with them. I'm thinking that I want to keep it simple enough that anyone could set it up and decided to stick with tradition and do a version of Raid on the Warehouse. So, to start getting some ideas down, I pulled out my O scale warehouse (with additions of my own) and snapped a photo of it. I think the visuals help with getting the ideas going.

What scale is your warehouse? Also, who is the manufacturer? Finally, what additions did you include? It looks great!! Thanks for sharing.

Nice looking building.  Are there any interior walls/floors?

Thanks.

I'll have to dig up the manufacturer. They are a big name and they put out a number of buildings in O scale (I want to say it's something like Americana).

Let's see, I added the skylight, the rooftop entryway and the wood loading dock. I added wood planks and metal bands to the water tower and reduced the size of the main doorway. I also added floors so that the interior could be used (see image below).

And here is an intrepid (28mm) female reporter investigating the shenanigans going on down at the waterfront.

Thanks for the reply and information. The second photo makes it even more impressive!! If you do find the name of the manufacturer let me know as that is the type of warehouse I have been looking for. Thanks in advance.

It's Ameritowne - sold under various names for the building IIRC. I've got one awaiting a similar treatment.

That's it. I also have a corner store from them.

The warehouse does need a few finishing touches. But it will be done shortly.

Great looking warehouse.  When I first saw it I thought you had designed it using walls from Design Preservation Models.

Great looking warehouse.  ...

What he said.

....When I first saw it I thought you had designed it using walls from Design Preservation Models.

The Ameritowne kits are modular just like the DPM ones. The basic kit is 6" square so you can swap walls from kit to kit. The walls are also very thick, around 1/4" and made of hard plastic styrene goodness. I have a dry goods store kit and two warehouse kits that I had set aside to combine into 1 large warehouse like above.  Operator 5's 2007 WiP pics [see links below] are what inspired me to buy mine.

You found my old links. Nice.  :D

The floors in this one were added by me. Its balsa wood over pink foam and I added both a lower and upper floors and braces to hold the roof.

These may interest some of you, they look like similar plastic kits and such from bachmann (sold a few at my years at YMR) Nice kits when painted up.

As for the warehouse, it does look good, especially after the added work  :)
