@Legionnaire - thank you very much! I check out the Pulp and Old West forums for exactly the same reason - I love to see nicely painted and modelled stuff. Glad you like my figures!

I picked up a cheap solitary barracks building from Micro Art Studio's hardfoam barracks a while back. I've given it a quick and dirty paint job so it can be used as a small industrial unit / hab / bunker / cargo lockup or whatever!

That has tarted up really well.
If you can say that about a rusty and rundown pile of crap.
Tis a very well turned out pile of crap though, sir.

Thanks Mason :)

Weathering is a perfect approach to painting big stuff - it's quick, it's easy, and the results look pretty decent. What's not to like ;)

The joy of it all!  This is just the place I need to visit to keep the juices following as I work on my project.  Love it.

A couple of freshly painted things to add to the collection.

First up, I painted some of Warsenal's pallets:

I think I want at least double the amount - they're great!

I also painted up one of the figures from my Colony 87 range - a human trader, beautifully sculpted for me by Michael Anderson:

I forget where I bought these from if I'm honest, but I think there are a couple of UK stockists.

Another absolute beut - I live the trader. How do you manage to maintain such a narrow pallet (no pun intended!) and still make everything look so varied?

On this figure, or across my figures in general? I have some paints I tend to use extremely regularly - I'm fond of a particular blue, and an orange, and a light brown for example. On the trader, all 3 are present, although the predominant scheme is pretty naturalistic tones with the brown and cream. I do try and apply colour theory (colours from opposite sides of the colour wheel, off-setting a cool colour with a warm colour). It's mostly playing around to see what works - I regularly have to paint over parts of a mini when the colour is wrong!

Thanks War In 15MM - that's nice to hear!

Nice work on the pallets.
The extra flashes of colour really work well.
 8) 8)

That merchant is wonderful.
I really want to paint my own one soon as I intend to get a whole series of trader types done at some point  including a certain resin fella.

I believe the palette here is a winner. It's surprising how these desert colours work so greatly in here. Wonderful.

@Scurv - the space pirate with the goitre is one of my favourites too. He's not new, but I like to get him out every so often!

My latest figure is from the Scale Creep blog I contribute to - a topical GW Cadian figure (if you're not following GW lore, the planet Cadia has just been destroyed). I had an old metal Cadian trooper that had been knocked about a bit:

So I reworked him as an injured soldier, evacuated from the frontline just before the destruction of Cadia:

The locals on the R&R planet aren't too keen on wounded veterans.

Take a look at the Scale Creep blog for other fun stuff :)
