I recently posted scans of a little book I got while living in Japan that shows a line of collector toys of concept vehicles from the 1940s and 50s. There might be some good ideas for markings and such.

Note: there are some markings on the German vehicles that might not be acceptable in your country. Please be warned.

Hello
Do you have already the translation of the motto....
Its in traditional bavarian german .
Gwant for example is a old word for cloths.
Maybe it could be translated like this.
Sell my cloths im going to die (Heaven)
The sentence has a kind of romantic, poetric feeling in german
Greetings from bavaria
Florian

Excellent! Thank you Florian! I wonder how a Japanese toy company came upon that phrase.

The Japanese hobbyists are hardcore.  Nothing less than every tiny detail is acceptable.

I've got one of the super heavy tanks- it's about 1/600th scale, always meant to use it in a what if air wargame as a target but never got round to it....

They pop up occasionally on Ebay but the prices are often ridiculous. Here's a listing that's not too bad:

I've noticed in some older anime, Harlock and Legends of Galactic Heroes [Heldensagen vom Kosmosinsel apparently makes real German speakers tear their hair out], for instance, German history and culture is a strong influence.
