Dieter's Commission: A Pulp Alley League
« on: 24 July 2014, 03:41:45 AM »
Hello,

I just finished up my first League for Pulp Alley, the sinister members of Herr Dieter's Commission!

From left to right: Fritz, Vaughn Richthofen, Oberst Kurtz, Herr Dieter, Doktor Feldmann and Dolph.*

*I did my best to obscure the evil symbols on the armbands in this photo. I hope it meets the forum standards!

Herr Dieter

Health- d10
Brawl- 2d8
Shoot- 3d8
Dodge-3d10
Might- 2d10
Finesse- 3d10
Cunning- 3d10

Evil Eye - Lower level enemies must pass a Cunning check (1 success) when fighting this leader, or they must Dodge.
Der Furher’s Commission- Add +4 slots to your league roster to use for Allies and Followers only.
Shrewd- This character’s Dodge and Cunning dice-type are not lowered due to injuries.

“A powerful and mysterious figure among Hitler’s top brass, little is known about Herr Dieter, not even his first name. He does, however, have the ear of Der Furher, as well as a commission that allows him to act in the interests of the Reich in an unlimited capacity. Using this authority, Dieter has assembled a team to track down anything ‘material, historic, economic, cultural, spiritual, or paranormal that will further the interests and prestige of the Third Reich.’”

Oberst Heinrich Kurtz

Health- d8
Brawl- 3d8
Shoot- 3d8
Dodge- 2d8
Might- 3d6
Finesse- 2d6
Cunning- 2d6

Hardened Veteran- This character ignores the multiple combats penalty.
Specialist- Once per turn, shift this character’s dice-type up when rolling for Cunning or Might.

“A veteran of the Great War in Africa, Oberst Kurtz served as a hunting guide for the most dangerous large game animals for over a decade before returning to his native Germany. Disenfranchised by the outcome of the war, Kurtz threw himself with full vigor into supporting the Nazi Party. Herr Dieter’s veteran soldier and enforcer, Kurtz is Dieter’s right hand man.”

Doktor Feldmann

Health- d8
Brawl- 2d6
Shoot- ---
Dodge- 4d8
Might- 2d6
Finesse- 4d8
Cunning- 4d8

Top of His Class- This character’s Cunning is increased by +1 die (Reflected above).
A Man of Science, Not Action- May not shoot, add +1d to two other skills (Reflected above).

“A researcher by trade, Doktor Feldmann is more comfortable in his lab in Frankfurt than on any kind of adventure. However, his powers of deduction earn him well-deserved respect among his more bellicose companions.  Less than useless in a firefight, Feldmann was nonetheless important enough to attract the attention of Herr Dieter, who recruited him.”

Vaughn Richthofen

Health- d6
Brawl- 1d6
Shoot- 2d6
Dodge- 1d6
Might- 1d6
Finesse- 2d6
Cunning- 1d6

Daredevil- Once per turn, this character receives a +1d bonus when rolling for a Peril.

“Of American-German decent, Vaughn is a mercenary pilot with a penchant for barnstorming when he is not employed by the highest bidder. A veteran of dogfights over Europe, Asia and South America, Vaughn is known worldwide as a scoundrel, backstabber, and all-around cad. Despite this, his gift for flying any and all types of civilian and military aircraft keeps him in high demand.”

Soldat Fritz

Health- d6
Brawl- 1d6
Shoot- 2d6
Dodge- 2d6
Might- 1d6
Finesse- 1d6
Cunning- 1d6

Give Me Another Shot- Once per turn, this character may re-roll one Shoot or Finesse die.

Soldat Dolph

Health- d6
Brawl- 2d6
Shoot- 2d6
Dodge- 1d6
Might-2d6
Finesse- 1d6
Cunning- 1d6

Sniper- This character’s Shoot is increased by +1 die (Reflected above).

“Members of the tough and resilient Gebirgsjäger corps, Fritz and Dolph were both recruited by Herr Dieter for service abroad to parts of the world unknown. Fritz is known for his ability to make up for his mistakes, while Dolph is known as a highly skilled marksman.”

League Perks:
Company of Villains!

I'm almost done with another league to oppose my evil Nazis and I'm assembling the things I need to start playing the Perilous Island campaign.
Thanks for looking!

Outstanding, Chuck! Great story and a really well designed league.  :-* :-*

This league feels really balanced and I think it will play quite nicely. Well done.  :D

Great league. Very nice design (and I admit I too have a league planned with the "commander + company of heroes" combo).

Thank you all. :)

I didn't think it was worth starting a new thread over, but today I recieved a couple of vehicles to dress my game boards: a (not so pulpy) 1911 chain drive tanker truck, and a really pulpy 1937 Cord Model 812 "Supercharged, Convertible Phaeton Sedan." I saw it on the the evilBays and just had to have it for my pulp project.  >:D

The car is Matchbox Models of Yesteryear, the truck is Lledo.

Dave's got it right!!  Good work there!!

I liked the look of that Cord so much I had to go on eBay and get one for myself!

As a young man in the '60s I did yard work, trimmed shrubbery, cleaned gutters & shoveled snow for an elderly gentleman & his wife who lived up the street.  He was in his mid '80s then, with a big tall 3 story house & lots of upkeep needed he could no longer enjoy doing himself.  His 'wages' bought me lots of Revell & Airfix 1/72nd airplane models, to say nothing of books!

He kept 2 Cords in his garage, a cream & tan '37 convertible & a yellow '36 coupe. Gorgeous beasts the pair!
Stunning cars, in perfect condition, bought new, both daily runners!!
He couldn't find any "new" car he liked better...
& their front wheel drive was great in the snow!!
Those two were so pristine & well maintained I'm certain they survive today.

It was on one of my last trips to his home I discovered he was an AEF veteran.  Curiously he replied that he hadn't been in WW I, but had served as an infantry 1st Lieutenant, on the Siberian Expedition!! His Great War had lasted until 1920!
Sadly he & his wife both passed while I was away at college,
I never did glean any further details...

Who are they up against?

Thanks everyone. :)

Who are they up against?

These dastardly fellows' main contenders will be the League led by the plucky Valerie Foxx. They are all painted up, I'm just waiting for their bases to finish drying. I should have them posted sometime tomorrow.
