The old Dark Future minis, I have about 15 gangers and maybe 5 police.  They're the only bikes I know in 20mm.
Aren't there some modern police on bikes in a few 1/72nd figure sets.

Yes, I think Irregular has one, and some others, but they dont come close to the GW stuff.  The bikes, the riders, the weapons sets, they are just great.

I should say, as I have them as well, Stan Johanssen does make a bike set as well.  They are Post Apoc specific as well and barring having access to the GW models, they do work.  I found the handlebars to be a bit fiddly, but that was the worst of it.

I am so excited!!! Have been watching this develop for what feels like a life time!! The cinematography shown in the trailer is fantastic  :-* :-* :-*

So rules suggestions? I have wanted to game this forever but have never really found a set of rules that convey the vehicle side of things very well. Oh an 28mm!

FFF

I'm going to second Machinas. Can be played in any scale, and you don't need a large/long board for a good chase. (Note: I'm biased, being the author of said Machinas rules  :)

I took a look at Machinas, and I have to be honest, it feels more like a chariot racing game than an auto combat game.  It just feels that due to the 'pack racing' component, which is very novel for this application, also limits how the cars can interact.  That is why I went with Outrider, as it provided more of a sand box where you can do road combat like Machinas but also arena, 'off road' in a non-linear environment, etc.  Although, that said, the price point is fantastic and that alone makes it worth having as part of any decent PA collection!

Its looking very promising, some mad vehicles, great desert scenery, and some decidedly odd looking individuals!!

Inspired me enough to start hacking about plasticard, and got me back into making vehicle masters, who knows maybe some nice 28mm models might be the result of this  :D

Yes please! Need some proper Z1's and GS thou's. No-one makes proper era bikes. Could do with a Toecutter and Johnny the boy in 28mm too.

Why doesn't anyone make these things?  ;)

May I just say, 28mm looks great to model, but it doenst work well as a scale for autocombat gaming, unless you intend on using your garage.  You will literally need a garage of space.  People play larger scales at cons, or with very specific rules, mostly just going straight.  This is great for conventions where the people play the game one, maybe twice, but for your own troubles on the long term, I'd advise 20mm, or matchbox scale.  You can find great cars in scale for cheap (top cars are maybe $8.00, maybe) and tons of scenery in HO scale.   Now I bit the bullet and spent upwards of $300 on my bikes, maybe a bit more.  But I wanted the best i could find and it was all the more easy being in Europe and more UK people having old DF stuff.  IMHO :D

Well, I'm working on a game format, that features a rolling road concept, so vehicle size does not matter too much. So I get to make some fab models in the scale I prefer to build in  :D

Bikes in 20mm damn fiddly to model  ;D

I'm definitely in for some of them when you build them Nigel. :D

Are you going for I or II vibe? Fancy having a car chase down Anarchy road.  ;)

Bit of a mixed bag I think, looks like it might be basic vehicles, with a selection of mods, so you can build up your own versions, and even swap out the weaponry, using magnets.

too boo coo the reason you gave needing tons of floor space is why I like the pack aspect of machinas. Its the catch 22 of autogeddon games do you go small and have stuff moving around  map or go big and use a more abstract but none the less perfectly fine system. Its half dozen of one and 6 of the other.

One thing to remember is australian roads have lots and lots of really straight bits.

We're talking about two things here.  Arena games are fine, but even at 20mm they get fiddly.  I have a set of 6mm for this as well, which is why I also think Steve Jackson went so small in Car Wars.  With Machinas, you could use virtually any scale because the game is more or less 'in place', which after a few games i think it shows its limits.  I bought a copy of machinas and it's good for a few plays, but I feel it does not 'feel' like auto combat in the way that car wars, outrider or even dark future had.  In fact I'd say due to its pedigree, it's closer to a racing game than an auto combat

Modified Gorkamorka makes a great PA rule set. The scenario "DA Chase" in the Uver Book plays out like that chase scene in the clip, heck I would even say those freaks on the poles could be a big grabber or a boarding plank.

Heh, that road wouldn't fit where I live. And I don't mean my house, I mean the whole country! Would make a fine bridge to Sicily though...

Damn, that is long.
It's about the distance to cross Belgium between France and The Netherlands using the E17 (although probably without the (daily) hours of traffic jams  ::))

I'm in southern California, with relatives out in central/east Arizona. Pretty much everything between El Centro and Phoenix is kinda like that (roughly 500 miles, give or take). Mostly huge stretches of flat or nearly flat scrub desert, broken every 50 miles or so by ridgeline hills that are basically gigantic boulder piles.

I understand it's like that up in Nevada and parts of Utah too, but I've never been. Only been to New Mexico once, and IIRC, it's like a milder, more populated Arizona. The Four Corners states are basically the US's Mad Max country.

Is it wrong to secretly want a big budget re-adaptation of Damnation Alley? With mutant megafauna, gigantic radioactive cyclone storms, and proper hardcore Landmasters?

History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

A mate of mine did it once by paying a truck driver to put him and his car on the back of his car carrier that was running it with a short load. Spent 3 days drinking beer from an esky full of ice which he proclaimed was the only way to travel that road and retain your sanity.

I shudder to ask how he went for a piss on that rolling behemoth. Unless Australian beer doesn't have the same effect as its European counterpart : You can hold out for hours, but once you go, you're pretty sure it won't last long 'till the next pit stop...
