This is all possibly getting better and better, some awesome work on show so far.

Von Lettow-Vorbeck is a fantastic addition and a great mini I unfortunately never got hold of

Lovely painting on Lettow-Vorbeck. Mine is still sitting on his shelf waiting patiently for some paint!
Great work on that soccer guy also. The quality of entries is just amazing.

Thank you moiterei_1984 ...

The photo isn't that great though... I took it on my phone

I love the variety of miniatures on this thread...
Some people think the Great War is a bit dull...
They are of course wrong :D

To support this Club I searched through my collection of unpainted stuff and found the only suitable miniature for WW1 in my lead heap:

No.29 Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck, Commander of german forces in East-Africa 1914-1918

Limited edition figure for Tactica 2011 in Hamburg, sculpted by Frank Germershaus.

 :)

That's a smashing piece of work - well done!  I'm just reading 'An Ice-Cream War' by William Boyd and it's highly entertaining stuff - as well as opening my eyes to what was going on in East Africa in WWI.

Excellent work, chaps!
There are some real pieces of art and it's great to come here and see the WW I painting club filling.

Let me do my bit again and contribute some more tommies. Actually I painted four of them last week but I don't want to flood the club with my humble results. So let me pick the two of them which look best to me:

No. 31: Two more Tommies

If you want to see their comrades as well as larger versions of the pictures, then please have a look at my blog and feel free to leave a comment (you don't have to be registered):

Thanks a lot, Michael.
As you know it's not only filling the collection but painting those little fellows...

Cheers

Von Lettow-Vorbeck is a fantastic addition...

Agreed.   :)

...a great mini I unfortunately never got hold of.

Nor me, though I asked here in the forum.  Seems there were no spares.   :(

Aha, after a initial maneuverings, it seems we've settled into a war of attrition on the GWPC. Which means my entry makes it.

No. 33. Le Grognard

He was a free sample from the Forgotten and Glorious offer. I got a French officer, but thought the head was a bit cartoony, so switched it for a Napoleonic plastic head from the bits box.

I got a bit happy with the weathering powder and mud effect. Hope you like him!

He's a great figure. I've painted him too - those FG figures are a real pleasure to paint (mainly because they're so bloomin' huge  :)) Love the alternative head as well.
