Sci-fi civilians, outlaws and so
« on: July 29, 2014, 12:17:06 PM »
I am mostly Rogue Trader oriented, but I guess all over here can be used for different settings ;).

First of all, I realize I hadn't shown Akula's wonderful not-Dune guys, which I'm using as guild masters/ local nobility/ whatever:

http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2014/07/sci-fi-civilians.html

(BTW, size comparison shot with a Forge World Space Marine)

Now I'm adding a character for urban scenarios, an outlaw on the run, trying to escape from the Arbites/rival gangs through the crowded streets.

I used a Zombicide runner, a Hasslefree head and some green stuff:

I was aiming for something 'not too much', I mean, nothing gothic, no skulls... Nothing too GW-oriented, but back to the roots. I was rather looking for a more generic, flexible approach, something like Blade Runner or so.

Weapons were an issue. GW guns are way too oversized for this model, they look ridiculously big in his hands. But I needed to relate the mini somehow to Warhammer, so I used a laspistol for the hand closer to the body and a regular gun for the one that attracts the eye attention:

For the same warhammerization purpose I chose a sword, but I'm afraid once again it's totally oversized.

So this is it, the project grows...

I now have some Arbites, an outlaw, a few citizens... This could somehow turn into a RT scenario... ;) (more stuff needed, of course, but I'm on it!)

Wow!!  :-*

Loving those nobles/guildmasters civilians - very cool.

Your conversion is awesome too!

I am so jealous. I missed the civilians when Akula did his project and I am always on the lookout for guys like these.  Very nicely painted.

Great ideas, I love the variety you achieved on the Dune civilians.

Will the civilians not be part of the range under the new ownership?
This is my boomstick!

Thank you all, glad you like them!

I believe so, but I have no actual info on that, sorry :?

Another guy, now from the Heresy ranges. I love the pose and the general aspect of the mini, as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted that guy:

The only addition is a sword, the mini looked so good to me that I didn't want any conversion work on it. I will be using him as a bounty hunter, but I guess the mini also works as another outlaw, hired muscle, bodyguard or whatever.

I really do need to build up some urban scenery!!

Great to see some civvies, and well painted ones at that.

Both futuristic gunslingers look awesome, I can see them shooting at each other, the first one dashing away and sending some lead towards the other guy who is taking his time for good aimed shot. Excellent  :D

Civvies for any period are always great to see. I like the not-Dune fellows (and fellowesses) and they rather remind me that I've been trying to get hold of a 1986 Citadel Paranoia mini - can't even remember what it's called now, 'High Programmer' I think - to act as a planetary governor or government official when I need a 'package' to be escorted/rescued in my sci-fi games.

There some excellently-painted examples of a great-looking range here - I hope it's available again soon!

I have added a new civilian to my ranges :). And the best part is that I haven't even done it! ;D

I'll explain: Whiskey Priest from The Leadpile made a contest to celebrate his 100 followers... and I happened to win! :) The prize was a custom mini for whatever project the winner currently had, so he gently made this wonderful adventurer for me:

He is making new friends...

And getting to know the neighbourhood

I love the mini; in fact I'm thinking of adding some kind of vehicle, something that may fit in with the personality of the guy...

Mr. Whiskey Priest also sent me these two beauties  o_o:

I'm not sure if the tavern I have is big enough to put them in or if that may sacrifice too much space.

So I'm considering about the possibility of creating a whole arcade machines place, some kind of 'Flynn's' from Tron ;)

All ideas are most welcome!

PS: Your minis are welcome too! :D

Both my buildings for my urban RT project look too lonely, business need to be attended! So I got two minis from Otherworld and made some arrangements.

First of all, the bartender, Thonvald Callmenger:

As the bar lacked a draught tap, the barman needs to take a beer dispenser on his back :D:

Besides, The Sparklin' Pulsar was in severe need of goods, i.e., bottles! ;)

On the other hand, the... 'limited distribution items' shop also needed someone to be in charge:

The misterious lady only known as Mama Balaklava is told to have been a Technovice, or maybe even a Techpriestess, depending on who tells the story, before she delved into forbidden technologies and was banned from the Cult of Mars.

I added her some bionic implants and a servoskull (which I call Murray-X after Murray, the evil skull seeking for world domination from the Monkey Island games  )

This shop now needs some bionic cats all over...

There are more civilians on the workbench, hopefully after the weekend I'll be able to show them :)
