<edit for brevity> Here are the components of the game that you might find useful to run campaigns.

Map (board) plus Destination cards,  Movement, Mission cards, Adversary cards, Action cards, Fame Points, Akhenaton & Regalia of Ra

I'm not saying let's go kill all the stupid people ... I'm just saying lets remove all the warning labels and let the problem sort itself out ...

Thanks!

We will try to be gentle with your 'baby'. Hope you forgive the 'I'm not sold on the game...' Early days, don't you know.

I will say that my games of IHMN have tended to bring out the characters of the 'companies' more than most systems I've played recently. My game day-before-yesterday of G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. was actually enhanced by that sense, as I was trying to flesh out my group as I went along. I'm sure it's there some in the card play, but I personally see it as, at least, a consideration.

Really? Centered around those sand-grubbers?

Oh, well...

Only in the sense that you get to beat them up, collecting one of the regalia before Akhenaton gets it is a reoccurring theme and runs parallel to the main task of completing missions, Akhenaton appears at the end and may win if the players screw up - how that would work in campaign terms I look forward to finding out.

So, how to use the board game as an accessory to running an IHMN campaign.

Part 1 - the board

sample map 2 by MEB_Pompey, on Flickr

The game board is a map of the VSF world, real cities, legendary locations and unexplored islands.
A deck of cards is used to pick locations, there is a bias towards European sites.
7 locations are not represented, these are the home cities of the protagonists - London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Rome, Constantinople & Cairo.
Akhenaton is the bogyman.

Locations are joined by trail, rail or sea routes. Air travel tends to be between cities (aerodromes or moorings are required).
As well as basic movement Action cards offer tickets to ride on train, steam horse, ornithopter, paddlesteamer etc.

How would you use this for a campaign?
Turn and turn about? Simultaneous movement?
Do you want to be able to 'buy' travel tickets or do you want to 'deal' cards (physically / virtually) to players?
Do you want to allow companies to intercept each other ?

Over to you guys .....

For board games I have always favoured the turn system.

Off the top of my head, I'd say one free movement per player per turn, but (saveable) cards available that can grant extra fast travel if played.

Maybe give players a chance to interact (saboutage!) each other if one lands on another. Perhaps give them random cards-swaps if the player who has landed chooses to do so. This would give them a decision to make as to whether they risk it and also give a player with poor cards a chance to really screw over another player with good ones.

I like your thinking, a lot of the board-game testers have been very collaborative, as this is the VSF version of the "Great Game" I expect players to screw each other over a lot more, after all you are representing your nation ...

Too right. Co-operation is all very well to a point, but sneaky underhand backstabbing is way too much fun to resist. Ah, the look on an erstwhile ally's face in Risk when he has trustingly left Iceland undefended and then you play your set of cards and stack  all your guys on Greenland. "Yes, I'm afraid so," followed by the rib-aching hilarity of the other players.

Looks like a large scale version of Scotland Yard to me. Is Mr. X in London or in Cairo? I'll take the zeppelin to find it out!
"I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?"
"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...
