Doing up a Fleece
« on: August 04, 2014, 03:05:45 PM »
I have acquired a nice mid-brown fleece throw to turn into my new 6'x4' temperate/jungle battle mat.

I currently have access to: bright green poster paint; dark green and dark brown acrylic; dark, red and light brown, cream and beige house paint; leather & British uniform brown, British armour, racing car and other dark green spray paints.

My current thought is to spray the mat from several distances with the various browns, let it settle a bit - to provide a variation in ground colour - and then do over patches with the green sprays, probably covering the same areas with two or more colours at various elevations to get a more natural array of colours. After all that, I'd get an old brush and flick the potted paints across the mat to again, break up the colours and get some more variation. I would add flock, but I don't have much and am loathe to lose it all in a fleece that will trap it beyond useful recovery.

Thoughts/experience/advice?

Cheers!

Thanks for the link.  That is a lot of work but the results are stunning!   :)

Apart from the road, which I would rather put down on an as-needed basis, that's pretty much what I'm going for, except maybe a little less busy with all the different tones of green. I'm checking out the rest of his website for tips now.
