Hello from Somerset, Land of summer sun
« on: August 06, 2014, 11:32:22 AM »

Hello and thanks for having me!

I've been a long time lurker on several forums over the years but decided to join here as a motivator for me as this seems the most "focused" of the wargaming fora.

I'm actually a lapsed railway modeller  :o, but rising costs of that hobby are inadvertantly giving more time to actually commit to a return to some gaming projects.

Been buying rulessets and reading things for a few years now, but in that time have only played one game of Force on Force, oh dear.
The rather cruel shots below are my first painted squad of US infantry,(last thing I painted was some citadel space marines, years ago). I thought theres no point wargaming if I can't paint to a standard that I want. These guys look better at normal viewing distance honest, so mean I'm here to stay.

Interests are primarily WW2, but cant choose between Bolt Action, Rules of engagement or CoC, so will probably play all 3 as the mood takes me. (Pointe du Hoc scenarios with ROE at the mo.) Oh and Battle of Britain with Bag the Hun rules is another embryonic project.

On the workbench at the moment are a box of Warlord US Rangers and an Ivatt Tank Engine (split hobby personality!).
Future posts wont be so rambling I promise.
If there are any WW2 gamers nearby (Taunton)it would be great to hear from you.

Cheers,

Matt

Welcome to LAF slow&dirty.

Painting to a "gaming standard" is something that I higly encourage, because doing so, you can have a decent force to play ASAP.

When I was young, I tryed to paint every single miniature to a high standard. Now I only paint my characters that way, and the fun is the same, so go on!

Hope to see more of your work soon.

May you have a long and merry stay with us.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!
