Texas Glory - Columbia Block Game - what scale?
« on: 10 August 2014, 05:51:35 PM »
It's a boardgame/blockgame, of course, but does anybody know what scale the block strength points are meant to represent. Sometimes in their games they are Brigades or even Corps depending on the scope of the game. Sometimes they state it in the rules but when I scan the free rules download I can't seem to find it. I am thinking each block might represent a regiment b/c of the small scale of the conflict. Anybody know better?

My reason for asking is I am considering using it for a campaign. You play it out with the blocks but then fight the resulting battles on the tabletop. Each block strength point could be a stand of figures, for example. Or you could get the command stand free plus one stand per block strength point (so a maximum of 5 stands per unit).

All this may or may not have been prompted by those new Boot Hill figures recently previewed...  8)

Don't know the game, but you might want to check http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/11886/texas-glory-1835-36
THE site on boardgames.  ;)

Yeah, Boardgamegeek is one of my favourite sites!

I suspect I am right that they units are only regiments or smaller.

Columbia Games is such a great company. I think the maps to their games have lots of uses for campaigns and most are available on their site.
