Papal Forces for VSF (a start)
« on: August 12, 2014, 09:09:10 PM »
Swiss Guard in blue uniform. There are 8 troopers and an officer. All the figs are from Brigade Games. I'm painting some WestWind Mad monks to round out the force.

Marvellous idea to use the french chasseurs alpins. Though I would have expected to see SCW carlists - which of course You could use to round it out

Blofelds's post on these lines reminded me that I've had these figs waiting to be painted since the Atlantis shared game from a few years back. Seeing as we are gentlemen on this site I feel "an hommage" rather than "stolen idea" seems a better term even in jest. The photo is of the Mad Monks, a work in progress. All these figs are from WestWind. The monks are from the vampire wars line and the tall fellow with the mace/staff is from their Road Kill line.

well, You see, we are "stealing"  ideas all the time here, that's why we share them.

Besides, using miniatures to represent something different that happen to look exactly like the real thing can hardly be called "stealing".

Aaand, using tough terms for something they are clearly not is something I would refrain from just to stay polite.

in this case, stealing implies "with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it", which can only be described as laughable....

Many thanks for the clarification of terminology former user. Congratulations on recognising the origin of the figs. The long haired officer is from Brigade's Storm in the East line. He's half of the Nestor Makhno/Fyodo Schuss pack.

You have a good eye for the usefulness of figures

why not carlists, btw?

While looking for Swiss substitutes I found the Alpins and stopped looking. I never got to the Carlists.

Have a look at Ironclad's British Naval Boarding Party figures - Knights of St John to boost the Papal troops?
