Last week we mixed up our summer fantasy campaign a bit. Instead of Song of Blades and heroes, we played a massive Kings of War battle.

4 players participated and each controlled 1500 points in a 2v2 game. We all have such diverse minaitures collections that it was very interesting to see what statlines the various players chose for their forces.  It's not everyday that one has to assign a profile to 6 Limbed Tharks, (he used the ogre list), Japanese, and Celts.  I controled half of the Chaos hordes whom I state up with mostly Kindoms of Man and Abbysal dwarf lists.

It was a beautiful game on a 6x7 table, but in the end the forces of Chaos were soundly defeated by the united front of Ogres, Men of the isles and the Imperial Japaneese.

The full batrep is here,

but here's a few pics to show you what a great time we had.

Cool battle. It's great that you were able to blend all your figures  together to make armies.

KoW is really good for giving big battles that you can play to a conclusion in a reasonable degree of time. Archers can be a bit tricky, I either go for troops to give lots of units to get around a bit. Or a horde with magic item to give it power that can sit centrally and act as a solid block as well as being shooty.

Thats pretty cool mate. I am also planning on using KOW for a Samurai army. Kings of war seems really adaptable and quite quick to play.

Thanks folks,
KoW is indeed really adaptable. Some folks have written up alternate army lists for it, but at this point there are something like 12 or more official armies and we've found that there's more than enough profiles in there to cover just about any fantasy unit type.  I even think that our armies were almost 100% compliant (possibly a few variations) with the army building and allies rules in the book.

Fred,
Thanks for the advice, I think I've got enough archers to paint up the 10 I'd need to get to horde strenght.  I'll definitely be giving them a magic item next time also.
