These are part of a commission that I've just finished. £3.50 for the foot figures and £7.00 for the mounted figure. I think their worth it but I would like some opinions. The customer said he'd do the basing to match his collection. what do you think?

Think of it another way - how long did each figure take to paint? Work out how much you are prepared to charge for an hour's work and then charge accordingly. It's hard to tell from photos but £3.50 a foot figure may be way too cheap?

I think they're very, very nice and well worth the money. If I had any cash to spare I'd be commissioning you in a flash. All of which begs the question "are you underselling yourself?"

I remember doing a job at a similar "mates' rate" on a hoard of WH40K stuff (only time I'd ever paint such things) and it ended up taking me about 60 hours to earn £200

They are splendid but as stated above how long does it take to paint one miniature (also don't forgot to add the expenses of paint, basing materials and brushes) To make a decent wage you would need to produce a bunch of miniatures an hour but yet this is purely though as when you see it as a business. When you see it as a way to earn some hobby funds and you enjoy painting miniatures you can actually ask how much you like and what which amount pleases you.

Charge more.
Fine painting.
I know it takes me about 40 minutes to paint a Foundry MI figure.
I would not sale them for 3.50.

Very nice painting and not wanting to upset the apple cart have to agree they are too cheap.

I too would have been tempted to commission at that rate but I think James and Paul have probably booked your time for this year already

I agree.
Jeff and I have agreed a higher rate that we both feel is acceptable.

Well thank you lads for all the kind comments and advice, it seems the consensus is that I'm selling them to cheaply however the price reflects the fact that they are not based and not to detailed. I have recently taken early retirement and it was suggested to me by some friends that I should do some painting for cash, what with all the spare time on my hands. I did this for the IM figures (13 foot and 1 mounted) and at a leisurely pace it took me a week to complete them. I recently completed 30 Perrys Napoleonic Black Watch Highlanders for my own collection, which seemed to take forever and if Im honest became a bit of a chore in the end and is not something I would want to do again in a hurry. I enjoy painting and in some perverse way I enjoyed painting for someone else even more. I will take some time to reflect on the prices but I suppose if it comes down to it at the end of the day it's just an agreement between you and another person.
Anyway thanks again to all those who showed an interest.
