a flaskback to the Campaign of Sicily..with the first and only "big battle" of the Sicilian Campaign , clash of Milazzo..an interesting wargame choice..with a vessel supporting the Garibaldini attacking a Neapolitan army supported by an unwilling garrison defending a castle into a peninsula...and last for the sake of equity..also some bandits..ehm sorry "red shirts"  ;) :) some Volunteers embarked to Sicily and a last pict a parade held in Naples  of white dressed British Legion volunteers with, among others,  a pair Royal Navy sailors ..that, according to some of my sources, fought "undercover" in some battles including Volturno expertly advising and even manning both Garibaldini field pieces and a pair of light naval gun pulled up to the mountain of the last battlefield of Volturno..probably the day was won also thanks to this foreign aid..still do not understand why Britons do not mind their own business  ;) ;) ;) :) :) :) :)

garibaldini Weapons

Before or just during the Sicilian Campaign Garibaldi bought some 50/60 "Colt Carbines" and other multi barrel weapons to strenght the maigre firepower of his troops (wich with the execption of the handfull of Genoese Carabinieri marksmen equipped with Federal Swiss rifled carbines) sported, untill the end of the Campaign and untill Volturno, an array of musuem pieces.

Figs ordered yesterday - arrived this morning. Great service Ged!

Will undercoat and paint up later today. Will add these to my existing stuff (which I wisely held onto!) giving me enough to put on some games using The Men Who Would be Kings. I know these are for colonial warfare, but they would seem to fit the skirmishes in the Sicilian campaign at least.

If I crack on I should have everything ready for a game at my local club on tues.

Keep you posted. ;)

Off topic, I hope as always Ged, Salute was good for you and your lovely ranges of miniature figurines.

I'm currently working on 10 years prior to your conflict, hence the miniature commissions to Steve Barber to cover some of the esoteric conflicts in 1848-49. Can't resist the uniforms back then. Hungarian Up-Rising first to support Geoff, Ed M and others. Slowly getting there with the miniatures through Steve's sculpts.

All the best,

Helen
