Hello...really sorry to pass for a party pooper but this nice pict from a kind of Italian  "look and learn" magazine of about 1950 refers not to a Piciotti leader..but to an antifrench leader of the Neapolitan resistance, nom de bataille "Fra Diavolo" literally Devil Friar..who fought with his brigants followers VS Republican and later Napoleonic French invaders..from 1798 to 1806..in a sort of less known "Italian Ulcer" that obliged the French to fight ferocious engagment not very different from those that they will face in the Peninsula VS Spanish guerillas...the unform is typically Consular/Napoleonic ..the choice of red probably influenced by supplies of material by Royal Navy wich ships protected from Sicily to the Pontine and Neapolitan Islands the interest of the exiled Bourbon dinasty...the appearance of Risorgimento's Piciotti would be sensibly different..the figures on second plan..with the so called "Calabrian Hat" , at least for this headgear, could be more associated with Risorgimento..but not really with Picciotti from Sicily..while it would look OK for "continental" (Neapolitan/Calabrian/Abbruzzi/Lucania/lower Latium ecc..)  anti Piedmontese Briganti fighters...

and if you really want to give life to Gringo Minis you could what this old Italian moovie...apparently naif but, in my opinion, very good representation of Piciotti ecc...if you write 1860 you'll probably find other parts of the moovie.

from the Eighties ..a film on Battle of Volturno part 1:

Volturno part 2

Volturno part 3

Voltuno part 4
