Nice colour print of Neapolitan line infantry 1859-61..shakos a bit
undersized .that aside a good rear view of equipment.......overcoats
varied in colour more of a darker grey washed through with tourquize

a magazine devoted more or less to military history..it features an article on the Battle of Volturno..but i don't think it's worth buying it also if only for a few Euros..except maybe a map that you can easily find everywere (including one posted by me on this very forum) and a TOE (known by every body)..i'm almost sure nothing new...with those kind of magazines

this one...quite realistic..refers to the iconic battle of Calatafimi..which opened the way to Palermo..the terraced wineyards across which the red shirts charged, in successive bounds, the cacciatori is well represented..according to firts hand sources ..they offered some sort of cover..obliging the skirmishing cacciatori to step down and close in order to see their ennemies and maximise their better firepower (swiss carbines VS obsolete muskest)...according to some sources Bixio followed the action mounted..which is absurd if not impossible in my opinion.. also..the Garibaldini never stormed a battery (which was, in anycase a mule borne mountain one)..as the line and artillery unit,well behind and  lining the top of the hills,together with a few mounted cacciatori and the coward Commander hiding in his horse coach,  stayed almost out of the fight, except a few ill directed shots...leaving almost with no orders at all , the burden of the whole fight, to be  sustained by the well motivated cacciatori...which retired in angry after having sustained a few casualties and having captured the Red Shirts flag

certain realism lacking in some of the other "contemporary" pictures you see of the period

Some times you have a dozen period illustrations of the same uniform but each has variences so often one creates a figure that is a mesh between all and looks and feels right.......your research is meticulous Ged.

Yes actually it is...i can confirm this from the few minis a friend of mine purchased for me at Salute..that finally allowed  me to discover and handle Gringo's minis...the Neapolitan personalities figures are very well researched and the look of those Mediterranean/Exotic soldiers,  but with flamboyant uniforms is perfectly obtained....not an easy task to achieve and not only from a foreign researcher...
