New project: Gypsy Vardo Update 16/12/14
« on: 16 September 2014, 10:12:38 AM »
Just some photos of the Gypsy Vardo that I am currently working on.  More photos on my blog.  Built of card stock, coffee stirrers and some green stuff details.  I still have to work on the interior and the actual wagon parts.  Hope you like.

Nice start!
I've always fancied building a scale one too, but never could find an excuse to actually start one... couldn't shoehorn it into any of my projects.  :'(
I'll be following this one vicariously.  :D

Work has been slow since I am currently setting up my hobby bench.  Here are a couple of shots.  There is a new folding table, stove and some bits and pieces added.  Sorry about the lighting, I live in a old house with useless fixtures.

For the wagon wheels I made one a while ago.  I used this as a master for an Instamold press mold.  A couple of days later I had four good wheels.

Hope you like.

Nice progress - I want some in 15mm, you've shown it's possible to make them. Thanks for the inspiration.

Go Snitchy! You are a master builder, its looking great  :-*

A question if I may... what glue do you use to attach the balsa to the styrene sheeting?

Many thanks
Matthew.

Thanks for the compliments all.  CB, I am not using styrene sheet.  The whole thing is paper mattboard and basswood coffee stirrers.  I am using wood glue if that helps.  I used a edged sculpting tool to scribe the planks into the surface of the mattboard before adding the basswood.  Again, thanks for the comps all.

Oh sorry I did miss that in your original post, but it did look like styrene.

Card and wood glue makes more sense. A very nice job your doing of it as well. I like the little details.

Cheers
matt
